I have seen a huge increase in Karen Millen (specifically dresses) being sold from China. While these look like a bargain, please beware that they really might not be. There is a huge issue with counterfeit dresses being made from inferior materials in Chinese factories - many styles of which were never even commissioned to be made there! (Ie - the black and white bow dress from last season, which was actually made in Lithuania!) These dresses are of a far inferior quality to the genuine dresses.
There was recently a buyer who bought a 2006 pink butterfly dress from China (the one made famous by Leona Lewis on X-Factor) that looked terrible when she received it - incredibly thin lining, and faded colours. This guide is intended to help bidders avoid being scammed by unknowledgeable and/or dishonest sellers. It also sheds light on the term "Bergen".All British soldiers today call their rucksacks "Bergens" (Often miss-spelt as "Bergans"). The term comes from the original '42 Pattern external 'A' frame rucksack that was closely modelled on skiers' rucksacks made or used at Bergen, Norway.Elite units, ie: Airborne Forces (SAS, Para, Gliderborne and Glider pilots) and Seaborne Forces (Commando), were issued these rucksacks. Because of the nature of their operations, they were required to be self-supporting and, usually, carry all that they needed to survive and continue their operations independently of the larger logistical structure of the army. Hence the term "Bergen Soldiers", a phrase that seems out of date today. The ethos remains the same: self-reliant, fighting elite men who tackle the most dangerous missions, operate independently in isolation and for protracted periods.The '42 Bergen came in a few variants and in two or possibly three colours. The earlier ones that the author's seen were not waterproof lined and were khaki in colour. There was a waterproof lined version (circa 1943) then, by 1944, a green waterproof lined version. This final variant remained in service until the early 1980s. There may have been a chocolate brown version (matching the '42 Assault and Battle Jerkins) but the author has neither seen nor heard about any bergens made in this colour fabric.The '42 Bergen was replaced by the '72 Patt "Rucksack SAS" - also known as the "SAS/PARA" or "Airborne" Bergen. (NSN 8465-99-136-1886) This had a square external frame that was also used for carrying the Clansman PRC 351 and 352 radio sets. From habit, these were called "Bergens" - despite the fact that, strictly speaking, they weren't because of the shape of the frame and pack.

2. ALWAYS read a seller's terms and conditions BEFORE you bid - they are put there to ensure a smooth transaction and it's no good arguing afterwards. If you see something in a seller's terms and conditions that you don't like, simply look elsewhere - it will make your life much easier.
3. Feel free to ask a seller ANYTHING that you might deem important that is not already on the listing. It's important for you that if you require stretch, you ask if a garment has stretch, for example. It saves a lot of disappointment afterwards. Any good seller will be happy to answer questions for you.
4. Bear in mind that price is not always indicative of quality. Likewise, many sellers list items well below wholesale price in order to generate bidding interest, and it's easy to get sucked in to thinking you're getting a bargain but by the time bidding ends, you've paid as much as you would elsewhere. A low start price does not guarantee a low finish price.
5. Make good use of the auction proxy bid system and don't risk missing out. If you go into Target and try on 3 skirts in size 16, odds are that they will all fit differently. The same applies online - and measurements are your virtual fitting room. A size 16 in one brand can often be another brand's size 12 and another brand's size 18. You just don't know until you try it on. The only way to 'try on' a garment online is to check the measurements against a similar garment that you own, which will give an idea of the fit. If you want more measurements, ask the seller. A good seller will always be happy to give you any measurements you require.

If you go into Target and try on 3 skirts in size 16, odds are that they will all fit differently. The same applies online - and measurements are your virtual fitting room. A size 16 in one brand can often be another brand's size 12 and another brand's size 18. You just don't know until you try it on. The only way to 'try on' a garment online is to check the measurements against a similar garment that you own, which will give an idea of the fit. If you want more measurements, ask the seller. A good seller will always be happy to give you any measurements you require.

I have recently sold my beloved Fendi Spy bag. I bought it from Fendi in Hong Kong and sold it with the receit etc. Upon listing i was mortified at just how many emails i had with worried bidders asking if it was real. These shoes were very popular last Summer and are looking to be even more so this year so just wanted to let people know about the copies being sold on ebay. I recently bought a pair for my 8 year old grandson who was over the moon to get some and on the day they arrived immediately opened the parcel and pulled the shoes apart to try them on.
In doing this he split the tiny amount of rubber holding the straps on rendering them totally useless. On contacting the seller I was told he had never professed that these cheap copies were "Crocs". There are huge amounts of copied items doing the rounds at the moment and the genuine Crocs are well made and substantial and last forever.
I was offered another pair of copies at cost price but why would anyone want to buy rubbish twice?!
The genuine Crocs are more expensive but wholly worth paying the extra for

If you have bought a counterfeit item off from eBay and open up a dispute with Paypal to get a refund, then you will have a very difficult time in getting your money back!In my 7 years on eBay, I have found that getting a refund from sellers of counterfeit items through Paypal very difficult and stressfull.At this time of writing this guide (20th September 2008), they currently require for the buyer to prove that the item is fake and not for the seller to prove that the item is qenuine.Paypal request the buyer to:a) Send the item off to either the company that made the item or an authorised distributor of the brand in question, asking for them to inspect the item in question and decide wether it is genuine or counterfeit.b) They than want written confirmation of the decision of the company or authorised distributor of the brand. Machine adjustments.
Apply pressure to the armature bar so it makes contact with the top of the coils (the downward stroke position). As you move the armature bar downward, you will notice the contact point is no longer touching the spring. The opening between the contact point and the spring is the gap. The speed of your machine may be changed by adjusting the gap with the contact screw. Closing the gap will result in a faster running machine and opening the gap will cause the machine to reduce speed. If your machine runs sluggish or irregular, you may need to add more tension to your spring. This may be done by loosening the screw that holds the spring to the frame and rotating the spring sideways to the machine, then give it a push, up down, and back up again. Put the spring back into place, line up the points and post and reset the gap as suggested above. Remember to keep the contact points clean with the use of a contact file.

You have packed up the item and posted it to the buyer. A week or so later the buyer gets in touch to say that they have not recieved the item. Can you proove that they have? If the answer to that is yes, then great. If the answer is no, then be wary.
It is very easy for someone to turn round and say that they have not recieved somthing, even though they have. That way they get a refund from you and have the item!
I am going to talk about the mail system in the UK, so if you are from outside of the UK, it would be worth checking to see if your postal service offered somthing similar.

Hello there, This is a short guide to Crocs! They are the most amazing casual shoes I have ever had! Initially when I saw them I was a bit unsure and was not too keen on them but since I have managed to obtain a pair in a large enough size for me my mind has been completely changed. They are great. The shoes are feather light, which makes walking heavenly! They also have a weird kind of massaging footbed, which is extremely comfortable, with either socks or bare feet. It doesn't really matter. From experience, I would say that they are rather wide fitting and may come up a tiny bit bigger then expected, but I do have very narrow feet so don't be put off by this. I find the back strap a real pain so wear mine with it folded up, like a pair of traditional Dutch clogs. This way them being slightly too big is not an issue as they are meant to slip on and off easily. Amazingly comfortable to walk on and I would recommend them to anyone as an awesome summer shoe. Not bad priced either:

All Ebay members out there , i would like to share with you my experience with this problem of fake Airmax 360 !!!Lately ebay is full of these fakes advertised as original ,authentic etc etc !!!Take your precautions ! I received 3 pairs of fakes lately !!!! 3 out of 3 !!!!I will show you pictures of an original silver / black shoe , and a fake white gold shoe.here are some points that you have to be very careful !!!1) Very clear and shiny air unit , the transparent part is a sign of fake , originals are a bit dull !!!!?in this pic is the original?in this one the fake2) the top of the tong is not well done and the outer side that writes airmax 360 come over the inside.?original?fake , the golden part is going over the white to the insideanother difference in the tongue is in the inside . the tongue in the original is attached to to the shoe with the same textile while in the fake is different .3) Take a close look to the little piece at the back of the shoe. in genuines the inside ruber piece is perfectly cut and placed.4) The outer sole is different !!! Very shiny outer sole, misplaced little rubber pieces under air unit in the heel?area of the outer sole are signs of fakes.?original , the litlle rubber cubes are placed very well ?fake , some rubber cubes are touching the heel rubber , obviously misplacedthere is also a small difference to the " www.nikerunning.com" writen but can't be seen in the pics.also the outer sole rubber material is different and of much lower quality in the fakes.5) Always ask for picture of the tag that is placed in the inside of the tongue !!! Fakes have just a number under the barcode while originals have 2 - 3 lines of codes !!!?original ,plenty of info !!!?fake , even the size is wrong , a 45 with smaller fit than 44.5 !6) the inside part of the sole is completely different between originals and fakes !!!??original , simple but does its job !?cheap " fancy " stuff just to catch the eye !These are the most obvious differences i found , off course the feelling is completely different when you walk .with originals you really feel the air under your feet and the springy effect while walking or running !with fakes is like you walk on hard plastic , don't even think of running !!!even the sound of them when you walk is is completely different.originals sound like pirelli sport tyres while breaking slowly to hot ashpalt while the fakes sound line you through down empty palstic balls !!!I made this review to protect the ebay community from this disease of fakes.I hope you find it usefull !This is not absolute and i didn't use any other than pics of shoes that i bought from ebay.I can't announc ehere the sellers i tried and have fakes . I have read about Nigerian Ebay scammers in reviews and guides but never thought it would affect me. Then I listed 2 Sony Ericsson mobile phones. The winning bidder had a feedback score of 0 and his ID was private, worse still he won both phones. I received a fake Paypal payment email into my inbox. These payments are fairly easy to spot: 1: The subject title of the email will tell you that YOU have won the item which you were selling. 2: The 'buyer' will include a message saying something like 'this is for my mothers birthday in Nigeria who needs it desperately' (you get the picture). This particular guy sent me this email for both items, and I'm pretty sure his mother didn't need two phones!!3: You will receive a fake Paypal payment (as well as the individuals email) fromwww paypal/uk/us.com. This is NOT an official Paypal payment. Check your Paypal account to verify this. So, you've been invited to a black tie event, and now, you need to dress yourself for success (with the ladies or the boss?) in a dinner jacket (known as a tuxedo in them thar parts of America). But you need to know what kind to get and what to wear with it? Well, I had a similar problem and I scoured the web and couldn't find a simple guide to evening dress,so I wrote one.The Simple Guide to Black Tie Dressing for MenThe DJ (a.k.a. tux): simple - black, with shiny lapels and a shiny stripe on the leg. That was easy, right? If you are very adventurous and it's summer, you can try a white jacket (with black trousers), and still be socially acceptable.Jacket style: single-breasted is more 'in' these days, but if you're portly, go double-breasted (covers the belly better). By the way, if you're standing up, your double-breasted jacket better be buttoned! And don't take off your jacket, ever; unless everyone else does.Shirt: white. Simple, see? The collar can be one of those fancy tabbed ones with the little folding corners (wing collar)or like a regular shirt collar (lay down collar), your choice. The breast of the shirt will have either pleats or a fancy material that will make you look really nice. The cuffs can be either French or regular, your choice.Shirt buttons: the studs (buttons) on the shirt and the cuff links should generally match. Cheaper shirts will have the studs sewn on. Hi where to start...I guess it starts before you even hold your baby for the first time.Mine is a true story of the highs and lows I experienced and still do.I'mbreast feeding my first child at 31, a beautiful 6 and a half month baby girl. I hope it may help.You write your birth plan and decide i'm going to feed him/her myself.I't seemed so easy to write down and the easiest thing to prepare for. No bottles, sterilizing and I was given these breasts for this purpose.The day arrived and after all this time I held her and wept. She was all I had dreamed of for so long. The midwife, lay her next to me and showed me how to hold her and my breast at the same time....This was my first of many lessons. Ididn't think pysicallyItwould feel this awkwardfeeding her or at least trying to.I was in hospital foreight daysafterac-section and my baby needing anti-biotics, due to an infection.I can't count how many times I rang the buzzer, becauseI needed help with positioning and latching on.I began to get low, my nipples were so sore, it wasn't the baby blues.... it was the breast feeding blues.I looked at her and thought,'I can provide love, warmth, shelter but if I can't feed her she'll starve'. She was sleeping loads.(probably a bit too much thinking back on it.I wasn't sleeping I was worrying so much.I knew she wasn.t feeding properly and when it came time to be weighed I was right. She had lost nearly ten ounces. That was it.... 'GIVE ME THE BOTTLE' I begged the woman answering the buzzer this time .This timewas different, She didn''t just show me whatto do again.This fantastic woman came to my aid ,( I can't remember her job title or name..there were so many) she asked me if I wanted to give up on breastfeeding my baby and did I think I might I regret it.She was right,but I was desperate for my baby to feed.With her help I learned so much.Firstly, I should have gone to the anti-natal class on breast feeding and not havethought there was nothing to learn.Secondly, I learned to relax, I did this first by closing the curtain around my bed and then sharingskin to skin timewith my little girl.We both relaxed and sometimes she would start to suckle.Then My 'HERO'provided me with nipple sheilds( they make you look like madonna if you keep them on under your top).This gave my nipples a break, they stoppedfeeling so soreand I had the reassurance of seeing my baby getting her milk.Iused themfor a few days when I got home,until I gained some confidence. Finally I bought a feeding pillow.I still Use it now and again.It helped so much, while I was still learning positioning.After joining a great baby club I learned alot of mums don't find breastfeeding natural at the beginning, but of those that do, all are glad they breasrfeed now andmany that don't breast feed, wish they had triedit or not given up trying. Ibelieve....You are not a bad or un-natural mother if you find breastfeeding hard or indeed if you do not breastfeed at all, loving and bonding with your baby are far more important than getting calories into them.Do what you feel is right for you.Finding places to feed is difficult, In Southampton I can recommend John Lewis-Top Floor(fantastic feeding areas for breast and bottle feeding, Water for you, changing stations,bottle warmers and a toilet you can take your pram in with you).The cafe is a bit more expensive than other places,but you don't have tousecafe.Lots of mum's seem to meet there. Now I'll feed in public if i'm somewhere not too busyI just tuck the corner of a muslin in my nursing bra ( an essential breast feeding tool ) and to the side of babies head.Babies weight Don't panic too much about the growth charts at weigh in clinic. They will show if yourbaby is losing weight or if they are putting on too much too quickly( not something breast fed babies seem to suffer from), but these graphs are not based on the research of breast fed babies. This is something I've been told is in the pipeline for change.Here comes the happy ending.......Macy is nowseven months old, I am still breast feeding her (it's easy now)and started weaning at six months. I am so glad I never gave up and yes proud. She snuggles into my breast and gazesinto my eyes. I know she is happy too.Please rate my guide if you found it of use.I've also written ome on weaning.

After reading other peoples guides on fake merchandise I thought that id warn you that I too was conned with G-Star fake jeans costing30GBP from a seller on eBay, I was fairly new on eBay and had a suspicion that they might not be original, but after reading feedback that was given from his other buyers they all seemed pleased with their product and stated that it was "genuine" and that they were "very happy with the fast and speedy service". He clearly stated on his page that he does not sell fake merchandise what so ever... The jeans were sent from Thailand so I guess you should be wary when you see that as the product location. Also don't be fooled by positive feedback of others or the sellers rating as I'm sure that can somehow be fixed to be in their favor.When the jeans arrived (about 2 months later I may add!)they werestuffed intoa tiny box, folded up into about 10 folds! Once I opened them up and checked them out I could instantly tell that they were fake. I looked at the label on the inside which had some Chinese or Thai writing on it, the quality was also very flimsy. The over all quality of the actual material was in two words; very THIN and CHEAP (much like a thicker than average dish cloth). So in conclusion, the chances of you finding original G-Star Jeans on eBay that are ranging in price from 25 - 40 GBP are very slim, in most cases they most definitely will be fakes. Don't be afraid to ask the seller questions about the item, however clear the item seems to be described on their page. This in turn could help you out in the long run as proof in the event that he claims they are definitely original when they clearly are fakes. Believe me this will make your life a lot easier if needing to return the product or if needing a refund.I appreciate that there are alot of us out there that would prefer not to fork out hundreds of pounds at a time for a designer product and would rather search on eBay for a generous seller. Just make sure you can tell the difference between a good samiritan and a wolf in sheeps clothing (some may say there is no difference lol).
